Private Equity investing is still in its infancy in Tanzania. However, we provide legal services to some of the most notable private equity investors in Tanzania and equity funds are interested in expanding into natural resources, energy, consumer goods and agriculture in the country.
A snapshot of our experience:
- As part of a consortium of legal advisors covering eight African jurisdictions, we advised on the Tanzania part, a mobile commerce network operator (comprising companies in more than eight countries across Africa including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mauritius) regarding a private equity investment from a Dutch investor by way of a combination of debt and equity.
- Advised a private equity fund in Luxembourg on compliance with the Tanzanian legal regime, investing in the East Africa countries.
- Advised Fanisi venture Capital fund on tax-efficient structures for equity investments into small and medium-sized enterprises in Tanzania.
